Canadian Mining Journal reports that ALBERTA - Calgary’s Canadian Oil Sands Trust, 37% owner of the Syncrude project near Fort McMurray, has announced plans to expand synthetic crude oil production to 425,000 bbl/day by the end of this decade. Goldcorp’s Musselwhite mine in northwest Ontario has become the first gold mining operation in Canada to be fully certified under the International Cyanide Management Code for the Manufacture, Transport and Use of Cyanide in the Production of Gold. Musselwhite is an underground mine that produces some 250,000 oz/y of gold.
