ABB to provide power and automation systems for aluminum smelter in Iceland

Houston, Texas, August 13, 2008 – ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, has won an order from Century Aluminum to provide power and automation systems for a new smelter in Iceland.

The systems will help secure an efficient, reliable power supply for the Nordural Helguvik smelter, while preventing the power-intensive production process from disrupting the local power grid. The facility will use electricity produced from geothermal energy.
